HERALDRY
Heraldic Art , the depiction of coats of arms. The ‘blazon’ being the written version that the artist works from e.g. Party per pale or and vert, overall a lion rampant gules (meaning a shield divided down the middle vertically – per pale, gold and green with a standing ‘rampant’ lion in red). Please click here to see the pictorial version.
The painted or pictorial version of the blazon is known as the ‘emblazon’ of which I have painted examples above. Originally used to differentiate one army from another when on the battle field. E.g. the Kings colours or regimental colours. For an example of a full coat of arms see University of Greenwich glass piece above which not only has the shield but also contains the mound, motto, mantling, supporters, helm and crest.
I hope you enjoy browsing these pages and if you should have any questions concerning anything you see, please do not hesitate to ask.
I am based in Wimbledon, S.W. London but am happy to travel if the nature of the work utilises my specialist skills. I have worked away from home as far afield as the beautiful City of Canterbury (Teokath signs) and, for the Emporium white gold fascia sign, to a 17th Century building at the heart of historic Hungerford.
However, London , in particular S W London and central London; e.g. Wimbledon; Wandsworth; Chelsea; Knightsbridge; Westminster; Mayfair; Pimlico; Fulham; Hammersmith; Kensington; Portabella; Paddington; Clapham; Battersea; Mitcham; Balham; Colliers Wood; Merton; Putney; Tooting; Bayswater; Barnes; Richmond and East Sheen are my main catchment areas.
